Photos: T20 Australia vs India

Last night I went with a group of mates to the T20 Cricket International between Australia and India at ANZ Stadium Olympic Park.

The event was really fun and there was a carnival like atmosphere there. The game itself was great, despite India being very much off form. Below are a few photos from the night.

Sydney Symphony in the Domain 2012

Last night I went to Symphony in the Domain with a group of friends from uni.

The quality of the concert was exceptional. There were a number of violin and saxophone solos and the orchestra overall sounded superb.

Most of the music performed was not very well known. But the rendition of The Blue Danube Waltz was brilliant, and the traditional final piece Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture rounded out a very good evening.

Below is a video of the last three minutes of the 1812 Overture with the full fireworks and cannon display.

I spent New Year’s Eve with a group of friends at Barangaroo on Sydney Harbour. As we waited for midnight we ate, chatted, danced, and had a great time ending one year and bringing in the next.

The video below shows the countdown to midnight, and still photos show the rest of the evening.

Photos: Sculpture by the Sea 2011

This morning I walked along the coast from Coogee to Bondi to check out Sculpture by the Sea. My idea was to do the walk early enough in the day to avoid the big crowds – as it turned out lots of other people had exactly the same idea!

However, as the photos attest, today was one of those moments when I love living in Sydney. The weather was perfect – not too hot, not too cold, and people were out and about smiling and enjoying the day.

These photos only represent a very small section of the artwork on display. In total there are over 100 exhibits and despite taking 250+ photos I still missed a lot of things.

An added bonus to my walk was seeing a Blue Tongue Lizard for the first time in the wild. I would have expected it to be hiding from all the noise but it seemed content enough to stick around and pose for me.

Photos: Manly to Spit Bridge Walk

Yesterday a group of us from uni walked the Manly Scenic Walk (Manly Wharf to Spit Bridge). The walk is only 9km but advertised as being between 3.5 – 4.5 hours, and somehow it managed to take a group of us 20-something year olds five hours to complete. This was mainly because we went down every side track possible and stopped at every corner to take photos. The best of my photos are below:

Walking Sydney Town Hall to ANZAC Bridge and return

This afternoon I decided to walk across ANZAC Bridge. Almost every weekend I stretch my legs over the Sydney Harbour Bridge but today I decided it was time for a change.

Walking from Town Hall to ANZAC Bridge I got myself a little bit lost through the back streets of Pyrmont but eventually managed to find the pedestrian access to the bridge.

The bridge is a marvel. When Sydney builds something they typically do it in a way that simply takes your breathe away. I simply love the fact that all the major Sydney landmarks are easily accessible by foot it is something that other cities (hint hint Auckland) still need to learn.

Overall the walk from Town Hall across the Bridge and return took just over an hour and is about 6km. It is a decent but busy walk but is a lot less tourist crazy than the Harbour Bridge.
